Review policy

I will review any kind of fiction (short story, novella or novel, in any genre) or non-fiction as long as it is self-published or published through a small (very small) press. Be warned, though, that blatant erotica has normally bored me by page two, and I just don’t have the type of mind that appreciates imagery and metaphor; this means that if you are a poet in particular, I may not be the best reviewer for you – if you write along the same lines as Roger McGough or Liz Cowley, you’re in; otherwise, maybe not.

If you would like me to review your book, please do ask. And please be prepared for an honest opinion. My promise to you is that I will never disparage an author, but I will say if I think your book has been published without the necessary quality control. I also guarantee to say if I think a book has been well-written and designed even if it is not to my taste.

Please email me your request for a review, and give your website address, twitter handle, and any other way of finding you online. I am happy to read a pdf, but I would like to be able to comment on the physical aspects of your book and I’d like to be able to download a mobi file to my Kindle so I can comment on the readability of it as an e-book.

I will need a jpg of the cover, details of where the book can be purchased, and a note of the readership you are aiming for.

If I am able to review your book, as well as writing a review on this site, I will post a similar review on Amazon and Goodreads as a matter of course, and promote it via Twitter and Facebook.

If you’d like the review posted anywhere else, let me know. In the first instance, please email me at
